Canstruction, Inc.
is a registered nonprofit organization that holds annual design and build competitions to benefit local food banks. Founded in 1992, Canstruction is responsible for collecting over 20 million pounds of food for local communities arcoss the globe. In Philadelphia, all of the food is donated to Philabundance, the Delaware Valley's largest hunger relief organization.
AIA Philadelphia Associate Committee
One of the most active committees of the AIA Philadelphia chapter, the Associates assist in the training of young architects and strengthen the link between architectural education and practice. In particular the committee assists those individuals in the Intern Development Program (IDP) and supports an exam preparation refresher course for those preparing to take the Registration Exam. The committee also produces several design competitions and social events throughout the year, including CANstruction, the Sketch Showdown, and Spooktacular (a safe Halloween experience for the Children's Crisis Treatment Center).
