Special guest author Mike Lydon will present a fun talk about Tactical Urbanism – both a movement and the title of his popular book, which will be for sale at the event. Tactical urbanism is about making spaces more fun, safe, and engaging using temporary, low-cost changes.
Visitors to and volunteers from the 2015 PARK(ing) Day Philadelphia parklets are also invited to join us at this event for a fun reception with food, drinks, and music in honor of all the impressively creative park designers. ABOUT PARK(ing) DAY
PARK(ing) Day, held annually on the third Friday of September, provides an opportunity for volunteer teams to turn parking spaces on the street into mini "parklets" the size of a car. These parklets allow us to better understand how much space in a city is given over to automobiles and invite you to engage with cleverly designed, temporary public spaces.
