ABOUT ABOUT

This program is presented in partnership between the Center for Architecture and Design and AIA Philadelphia.

Join us for a reception honoring the student work on display at the Center as part of our 2019 Degrees of Design exhibition and for a fascinating panel discussion about design education. Moderated by Rachel Schade (Drexel University) and Rashida Ng (Temple University), co-editors of the Spring 2019 issue of AIA Philadelphia’s CONTEXT Magazine on design education, the discussion seeks to demystify architecture education and the range of career opportunities that await architecture students after graduation.

Today’s architecture students will improve the quality of tomorrow’s neighborhoods, housing, and school buildings. Today’s students will lead tomorrow’s design firms. They will construct more efficient, resilient, and healthy buildings within our future cities. They will become our civic leaders, design directors, and community advocates. How we educate these students will have a lasting impact on our city, our neighborhoods, and the spaces in which we live, work, learn, and play.

We especially encourage curious high school students, guidance counselors, parents, and currently enrolled architecture students to attend.
