By Center / Architecture + Design (other events)

Wednesday, March 8 2017 5:00 PM 8:30 PM EDT

ABOUT ABOUT

Join us in honoring Theaster Gates, winner of the 2017 Edmund N. Bacon Prize for his career spent developing properties which engage local communities with their neighbors and neighborhoods through culture and art.

Also honored at this ceremony will be the winners of the 2017 Better Philadelphia Challenge. This year's urban design challenge asked students to develop plans to transform the abandoned City Branch rail tunnel under Pennsylvania Avenue into a recreational trail and cultural destination. This year's competition was produced in partnership with The Rail Park.

The ceremony will be followed by a coffee + dessert reception. FREE valet parking will be available.

With the purchase of a VIP ticket, we invite you to join us and the award winners before the ceremony at 5:00 PM for our VIP Reception which will feature heavy hors d'oeuvres, wine, beer, and live music. In attendance will be Theaster Gates, the competition winners, local dignitaries, and our invaluable sponsors, without whom this program would not be possible.
