ABOUT ABOUT

Find out how your group can participate, partner-up, and celebrate PARK(ing) Day PHL in your neighborhood!

PARK(ing) Day PHL celebrates 12 YEARS on September 20th!

PARK(ing) Day is an annual, daylong global event where citizens, artists, and activists collaborate to temporarily transform metered parking spaces into “PARK(ing)” spaces: temporary public mini-parks, or "parklets". In Philadelphia, approximately 60 volunteer teams design, build, and install these temporary 170 square-foot parklets througout the city as a gift to their fellow citizens.

Through this info session, you'll find out what it takes to make your own parklet and learn the ins and outs of participating in the day's festivities.

PARK(ing) Day was founded in 2005 by Rebar Group, a former San-Francisco-based architecture and design firm, and was first organized in Philadelphia in 2008 by Zimmerman Studio. Since 2014, the program has been managed and presented by the Center for Architecture and Design.
